Opiate Tolerance

What Is It?

The National Institute on Drug Abuse defines tolerance as “A state in which an organism no longer responds to a drug. A higher dose is required to achieve the same effect.” The more a drug is used, the amount needed will continually increase in order to get the same high. Opiate tolerance is not permanent and can be reduced by discontinuing use. The video below shows how opiate tolerance works in the human brain.
