Kathy Bishop | Program Director & Risk Manager

"Someday you'll meet someone who's lost everything. If you don't do something to ease their pain, what good are you?" Kathy's journey at Phoenix Health Center started in 2011. Her integrity, compassion, and knowledge are visible in her every day interactions with patients, staff, and community members.

In addition to 17 years experience in the behavioral health field and a wealth of knowledge in health care regulation and program operations, Kathy is a Certified Medical Office Manager, has an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Development, Certificate in Criminal Justice, and is pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration. 

Kathy has completed methadone and buprenorphine education modules and most recently completed the Harvard X: The Opioid Crisis in America certificate program. She is in the second phase of obtaining her certification as a Fraud Investigator. She also a member of Act Now, Opiate Overdose Fatality Review Board, and the SB 512 Committee. 

Monique Evans | Senior Clinical Supervisor

Monique earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Duquesne University in 1983 and Associate of Applied Sciences degree from Hagerstown Community College in 2001. In 2001 she became a Certified Associate Counselor- Alcohol and Drug by the State of Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. 

Monique has over 300 hours of continuing education in the addictions treatment and prevention field; 300 hours of continuing education credit courses in the prevention and life skills training field including Botvins Life Skills, Project Alert, Dare to be You, and Strengthening Families. In 2014 she earned her Clinical Supervisor certification.

Stacie Grogin | Clinical Supervisor

Stacie earned her Associate of Arts degree in Human Services from Hagerstown Community College in 1999, Regents Bachelor of Arts majoring in social work in 2001 from Shepherd University. At HCC she was a member of the Human Services Club. She was also a member of the Social Work Club, Sociology Club, and AKD Sociology Honor Society at Shepherd University.

 

Stacie has previously worked for the Victor Cullen Academy in Sabillasville, MD as a counselor at the drug and alcohol cottage, Alliance Inc in Frederick, MD, a dual-diagnosis residential facility, as a substance abuse and mental health counselor, Turning Point of Washington County, MD as an outpatient facilitator, Hagerstown Treatment Center as a substance abuse counselor, Gaudenzia at MCTC also as a substance abuse counselor. She is currently a member of the Maryland Addictions and Behavioral Health Professional Certifications Board as Secretary and Chair of Public Information and member of NADAAC.

Vonda Kendle | Billing Manager

 

AA

 

Vonda earned her Associate of Arts degree in Medical Secretary from Hagerstown Business College. She has worked for several area pediatricians in the Hagerstown area throughout her career as a medical assistant. Vonda is also an active volunteer in the Hagerstown community.

Ashley Chagnon | Lead Communications Specialist

 

BA, MS

 

Ashley earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Penn State University in 2011. There, she concentrated in multimedia development and public relations while being the active video editor of Livewire (Penn State's multimedia magazine) and working with local nonprofits and community outreach groups. She has been a member of the Potomac Valley Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association since 2011.

 

In 2012, Ashley earned her Master of Science degree in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University's accelerated cohort program in the top ten of her class while working full time. Since then, she has designed and developed websites and print materials for area businesses and is continuing her education in both multimedia development and information technology.

Casandra Butler | Reception & Billing Specialist

 

AS, BS

 

Casandra earned her Associate of Science degree in Health Care Administration in 2010 and Bachelor of Science degree also in Health Care Management in 2013, both from University of Phoenix. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management from Coppin State University, set for completion in 2016.

 

Casandra has held several positions in administration. She is a detail- oriented, highly motivated professional with solid analytical, interpersonal, problem solving and critical thinking skills that make her an asset to the Phoenix family.

Spring Howard | Facilities Coordinator

 

Spring earned her Associate of Arts degree in Psychology from University of Phoenix in 2000. She is CPR/AED certified and has completed Naloxone overdose training. She has worked with Dr. Farah for the past seven years and has been the Facilities Coordinator since Phoenix Health Center's opening in 2011.

 

Spring tends to the entire building and is also the meeting coordinator, events planner, and is the personal assistant to Dr. and Mrs. Farah. She is on the Board of Trustees as a patient representative. Spring is also an office manager at another facility and owns her own business.
